Each year, NRECA recognizes and honors community service with the National Community Service Awards. These awards recognize efforts to enhance the economic and social environment of the region through community service; promote understanding of the member-owned electric cooperatives; provide opportunities for member-owners and employees to invest in their communities and encourage political and civic involvement in the democratic process.
Locally owned and controlled, the electric cooperative bond with their community is unique and extremely strong. The exemplary efforts outlined in National Community Service Award entries each year are testimony to the fact that electric co-ops continue to play dynamic and innovative roles in serving their members. The award recipients are examples of the outstanding work being done by many members of our electric co-op family. Please note that the award categories changed in 2005.
