Electric Cooperative Testifies on the Dangers of the President’s Climate Action Plan

Mike Kezar, General Manager, San Miguel Electric Cooperative, testified before the House Small Business Subcommittee on Agriculture, Energy, and Trade on the effects of the President’s Climate Action Plan on a small generation and transmission cooperative. He told the Committee that the Clean Air Act was not the appropriate tool to regulate greenhouse gases, and warned that the cost impacts of having the Environmental Protection Agency regulate greenhouse gases could be catastrophic for new and existing coal-fired generation. Mr. Kezar urged the Committee, and the EPA, to consider the effects of the President’s Climate Action Plan on small businesses as they move forward.
