Today, the House passed H.R. 2218, the Coal Residuals Reuse and Management Act of 2013, by a vote of 265 -155. The bill establishes a non-hazardous regulatory framework to govern the disposal of coal combustion residuals, ensures that a minimum federal requirement for the disposal of coal combustion residuals is implemented, and ensures that the beneficial uses of coal combustion residuals can continue.
Earlier this week, NRECA, along with 279 other organizations, including 58 member cooperatives, sent a letter to Members of Congress, urging them to support H.R. 2218. NRECA looks forward to working with the Senate as they consider this legislation.
