NRECA Supports H.R. 2218, the Coal Residuals Reuse and Management Act of 2013

In a letter to Chairman Fred Upton and Ranking Member Henry Waxman, NRECA, along with APPA, EEI, and USWAG, expressed their support for H.R. 2218, the Coal Residuals Reuse and Management Act of 2013. The bill establishes a non-hazardous regulatory framework to govern the disposal of coal combustion residuals, ensures that a minimum federal requirement for the disposal of coal combustion residuals is implemented, and ensures that the beneficial uses of coal combustion residuals can continue. H.R. 2218 is the best and most effective way to eliminate the regulatory uncertainty surrounding the disposal of coal combustion residuals, and NRECA urges the Energy and Commerce Committee to support the bill.
