Cooperative Action Network

New website for Grassroots Action
In August NRECA launched www.nreca.coop to consolidate its numerous websites into one to better serve the needs of the membership. This new site highlights the Cooperative Action Network (CAN) – which is the hub for nationwide grassroots action. Here you’ll find legislative alerts, information on important issues, and resources to share with your membership.

Cooperative Action Network (CAN)
This site organizes the legislative concerns of electric cooperatives on a variety of issues including the recent announcement by the administration to regulate carbon emissions from new power plants. The EPA came out with their proposed regulations in September and coops are urged to recruit and engage their membership on this important issue. The CAN also hosts a video from NRECA Jo Ann Emerson, focusing on how electric co-ops power the American Spirit. And a simple, easy-to-remember URL has been created for your grassroots efforts: www.Action.coop.

Moving Forward

The Our Energy, Our Future (OEOF) campaign has ended and we now use Cooperative Action Network (CAN) to rally our national grassroots efforts. This national grassroots effort has paid great dividends over the last several years and it serves as a strong foundation for the work ahead of us. As we move into a new era of grassroots action, please replace the OEOF logo on your website and newsletters with the new Cooperative Action Network logo.

Missouri Action.coop Video (mp4)
The Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives and White River Valley Electric Cooperative have created an amazing resource that is available for every electric cooperative to use for a small fee. The video, whose full length is 25 minutes, does a great job of explaining the issues at hand and why taking action is so important. If your cooperative or statewide would like to use this video, please contact Chris Massman (cmassman@amec.org), and for $500 he will provide you with the raw footage that you can edit however you would like to make the video specific to your local cooperative and its members.
