George Hand, General Manager, Canadian Valley Electric Cooperative, testified before the House Oversight and Government Reform Subcommittee on Energy Policy, Health Care, and Entitlements on the effects of rising energy costs on electric cooperative members. Mr. Hand told the Committee that Canadian Valley Electric Cooperative works hard to provide affordable, reliable electricity to its members. However, the cost of complying with the increasing amount of regulation from the Environmental Protection Agency, the North American Electric Reliability Corporation, Regional Transmission Organizations, and other federal agencies increases the price of energy for electric cooperative members. Mr. Hand urged the Committee to consider the impact of new regulations on energy prices in future policy decisions.
