Arlington, VA. ; February 6, 2012 - Today, the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) commended the Obama administration’s announcement that the President intends to nominate John Norris to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for a new term.

Norris currently serves as a FERC Commissioner, and previously, he has served as Chief of Staff to U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack and has been Chair of the Iowa Utilities Board.

“Rural electric cooperatives have developed a strong relationship with John Norris during his service as a FERC Commissioner, and I am pleased that the President intends to nominate him for a new term. His many years working with electric utilities as well as his service in the U.S. Department of Agriculture bring a valuable perspective to FERC,” said English.

The National Rural Electric Cooperative Association is the national service organization that represents the nation’s more than 900 private, not-for-profit, consumer-owned electric cooperatives, which provide service to 42 million people in 47 states.
