Senate Passes S. 1302, the Cooperative and Small Employer Charity Pension Flexibility Act

On Tuesday, January 28th, the Senate passed S. 1302, the Cooperative and Small Employer Charity Pension Flexibility Act, by unanimous consent. This bipartisan legislation would make the temporary exemption from pension funding rules in the Pension Protection Act of 2006 for rural cooperative “multiple-employer” defined benefit plans permanent. S.1302 is also endorsed by Christian Schools International; United Way Worldwide; UJA, United Jewish Appeal, Federation of New York; The Jewish Federations of North America; Girl Scouts of the USA; NTCA – The Rural Broadband Association; United Benefits Group; Hawkeye Insurance Association; and the National Council of Farmer Cooperatives. NRECA looks forward to working with Congress as this bill moves to the House of Representatives.
