NRECA International draws on the vast talent pool within NRECA’s U.S. member cooperatives for technical and operational expertise to staff each project. Projects generally require a diverse range of expertise, which may include GIS planning, distribution system design, cooperative development and operation, and lineman training, among others, so there are ample opportunity for interested applicants to apply their respective skills to the challenge of rural electric system development in countries around the world.

NRECA International is currently providing expertise in electrification program design; rural utility development; legal, regulatory, financial and economic analysis; and engineering design and analysis, in sixteen countries, including Bangladesh, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ghana, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Liberia, Pakistan, the Philippines, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda, and maintains its headquarters in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Our focus is on resolving the issues that are critical to successful rural electrification program design and implementation.

Current Opportunities

 

  • Off-grid Programme Delivery Manager

    NRECA International is currently forming a project team to support capacity building in the Rwanda Ministry of Infrastructure. Towards this end, NRECA International seeks qualified Off-grid Programme Delivery Manager candidates to work on a twelve month assignment, based in Kigali, Rwanda.

    Candidates must be fluent in the English language and must demonstrate English-language work experience. Candidates should demonstrate the following qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in renewable energy or sustainable energy; a Master’s degree is a plus;
    • A minimum of 10 years work experience in designing and/or delivering energy efficiency and off-grid solutions in emerging markets;
    • Experience in project management; PMI certification is a plus;
    • Experience in working with complex stakeholder structures including government agencies, aid agencies, and rural stakeholders;
    • Experience in managing teams and helping increase the skills of team members.

  • Energy Finance Specialist

    NRECA International is currently forming a project team to support capacity building in the Rwanda Ministry of Infrastructure. Towards this end, NRECA International seeks qualified Energy Finance Specialist candidates to work on a twelve month assignment, based in Kigali, Rwanda.

    Candidates must be fluent in the English language and must demonstrate English-language work experience. Candidates should demonstrate the following qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, or engineering; a MBA or Master’s degree in Finance is a plus;
    • A minimum of 10 years work experience in energy and/or infrastructure finance, preferably in developing countries;
    • Work experience in arranging financing of energy sector projects involving private and/or multilateral financial institutions, export credit agencies and/or climate/carbon finance;
    • Ability to work systematically to attain organizational goals, develop strategies and takes account of a wide range of issues that impact the organization;
    • Experience in managing teams and helping build the skills of the team members.
