NRECA International routinely advises utility and government clients on the benefits and challenges of deploying smart grid technology given the vast and growing experience of NRECA team members who have a practical and creative approach to deploying technology in remote and often challenging conditions.
NRECA International is currently implementing the Smart Grid Alliance for the Americas (SGAA) project. This innovative partnership shares experience and provides technical assistance in smart grid technology applications to cooperative, municipal and other small electric distribution utilities in Latin America. In Pakistan, NRECA International is engaged in a large performance improvement program with nine electric distribution utilities, where our specialists have designed and supervised the installation of AMI/AMR technology. For the past four years, NRECA member cooperatives have implemented a major program to evaluate the feasibility of a range of smart grid applications through a US Department of Energy (DOE) grant, which involved installing and evaluating various smart grid technologies for 23 cooperative electric utilities across the United States.
NRECA International continues to provide expertise in smart grid planning and implementations making it possible for utilities and electric cooperatives around the world understand and apply this technology to their distribution systems.
